About Us

First known as the Beautification Committee of the Chamber of Commerce, Keep Hot Springs Beautiful (KHSB) established itself as its own 501(c) 3 nonprofit organization in 2007. KHSB’s three main focus areas are litter prevention, beautification & community greening, and waste reduction & recycling.

Keep Hot Springs Beautiful is made up of over 100 local members who donate and volunteer to help keep our programs running. KHSB’s volunteer Board of Directors is elected annually by the membership. They meet monthly and members are always welcome to attend these meetings.

The mission of Keep Hot Springs Beautiful is to stimulate community pride and increase individual responsibility in beautification and litter reduction through environmental education and programs.

What do we do?

  • Organize and support the Pod Squad, a group of volunteer gardeners that plant, weed, and maintain the downtown corner bump-outs.

  • Work with state and local officials to design and create new greenspaces around Hot Springs.

  • Act as an information hub for city officials, students, and local citizens to help educate them about what, when, and where materials can be recycled, as well has how to be better stewards of our community spaces.

  • Organize the Great American Clean-up each May. This community-wide effort cleans up Fall River, the viaduct bridge, public staircases, ditches, city parks and other locations around Hot Springs.

  • Sponsor Super Recycling Events to keep harmful substances out of our landfill and sustainably repurpose them.

  • Organize the Earth Day Rummage Sale where folks can donate items to Reduce, Reuse & Recycle as well as find a bargain on unexpected treasures. This event is our main fundraiser and provides funds to run our programs the rest of the year.

  • Provide and manage the Aluminum Recycling Trailer in the Bomgaars’s parking lot. This encourages locals to recycle their aluminum cans and provides additional revenue to KHSB.

  • Hang Christmas lights throughout Centennial Park to create a festive holiday spirit in Hot Springs.

  • Hold an annual banquet every fall, open to KHSB members and the public, to celebrate our volunteers’ accomplishments and inspire action for the upcoming year.

  • In previous years, KHSB has held a Summer Garden Tour to celebrate local gardeners and their hard work as well as a Home Improvement Contest to encourage residents to improve the curb appeal of their homes.
