Who are we?

First known as the Beautification Committee of the Chamber of Commerce, Keep Hot Springs Beautiful (KHSB) established itself as its own 501(c) 3 nonprofit organization in 2007. KHSB’s three main focus areas are litter prevention, beautification & community greening, and waste reduction & recycling.

Keep Hot Springs Beautiful is made up of over 100 local members who donate and volunteer to help keep our programs running. KHSB’s volunteer Board of Directors is elected annually by the membership. They meet monthly and members are always welcome to attend these meetings.

What do we do?

  • Organize and support the Bump-out Brigade, a group of volunteer gardeners that plant, weed, and maintain the downtown corner bump-outs.

  • Organize the Great American Clean-up each May. This community-wide effort cleans up Fall River, the viaduct bridge, public staircases, ditches, city parks, and other locations around town.

  • Organize the Earth Day Rummage Sale where folks can donate items to Reduce, Reuse & Recycle as well as find unexpected treasures.

  • Provide and manage the Aluminum Recycling Trailer. Located in the Bomgaar’s parking lot, the trailer encourages locals to recycle their aluminum cans.

  • Hang Christmas lights throughout Centennial Park to create a festive holiday spirit in Hot Springs.

  • Hold an annual banquet every Fall, open to KHSB members and the public, to celebrate our volunteers’ accomplishments and inspire action.

  • Act as an information hub for local citizens to help educate them about what, when, and where materials can be recycled, as well as how to be better stewards of our community spaces.

  • Work together with local government and fellow non-profits on projects.

  • In previous years, KHSB has held Garden Tours, Super Recycling Events, Home Improvement Contests, and Community Clean ups.

The mission of Keep Hot Springs Beautiful is to stimulate community pride and increase individual responsibility in beautification and litter reduction through environmental education and programs.
